After reading this morning’s newspaper article about how a maid had her 2 front teeth `pulled out’ in an abuse case, one cannot help but wonder what had gone through the minds of her employers who had committed such a grievous offence. It was alleged that the domestic helper was restraint with a bathrobe, beaten on the head and on her back with an iron rod, having hot wax poured onto her head, hot water poured onto her private parts and was threatened with a knife. It was claimed that the maid had stolen some money belonging to her employer. This case comes out like an interrogation and torture scene. If it was true that the maid has stolen some money, does causing such grievous hurt resolve the matter?
This comes to mind as how do we handle ourselves when we have been wronged? Do we beat the living daylights out of the person who had wronged us? How did Jesus handle the many situations when He had been wronged?
An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
