An article appeared in TODAY online which I read with much reflection. It was written by Mr Peter H L Lim who is a member of a well known local organization.
The article traces the progress of women into the modern age of today. With greater financial independence, stable career, self confidence and freedom of choices, the writer applauded such women who entered into relationships with married man – it’s ok for these women to have a relationship with a married man as the article suggests.
Such women also symbolise the progress the female sex has made, with their financial independence, their freedom of choice — and their self-esteem according to their own values and preferences.
Yes, in case you have not noticed, I admire such women, as I admire all women anywhere who have come into their own despite the barriers that still exist for the female sex.
So, here’s to you, all of you, today’s Singapore women, Ms Whatever Your Names!
I’m sure any responsible thinking human being will be quick to ascertain that extra-marital affairs is a no-no. How will you feel if your spouse is engage in extra-martial affairs before you applaude others that adultery is ok. How will the children feel when having to face up to the sniggers and taunts of classmates. What about your close family members who could be put into a shameful position.
Perhaps, one should examine closely about responsibility in a relationship, not just to your spouse, but to those around you whom your actions will have an effect on rather than the `I’, `ME’, `MYSELF’ attitude. Your actions do have an effect on others.
